Mr Kelly Gauwa is  a middle aged man from the Western Province of Papua New Guinea. He is married with three children all between the age of 8 – 18. He previously worked as a secondary school teacher, teaching visual arts in his home province. Currently he is studying here at the University of Goroka, doing Bachelor of Education Inservice.

Mr Gauwa greatest interest is visual art. He spends most of his time painting.

Mr Gauwa volunteered to participate in the Yumi Piksa Production because he really would love to use the skills that he gets from his experience here to keep record of his culture depicted in his art for future generation.

He believes that the use of moving images is a good way of reviving the dying artwork in his home province – Western Province. He hopes to make videos that will motivate the younger generations to take an interest to record their culture in visual art.

He also hopes that the videos he makes in the near future will promote the unique culture and art of Western Province both nationally and internationally to attract tourists. He also hopes that the video promotions will help to get organizations or individuals to commission his artwork.
